Camper trailer catches fire on I-15

A trailer caught fire around milepost 70 on northbound interstate 15 before the white GMC pickup truck pulling the trailer pulled over, according to Idaho State Police.

The Pocatello Fire Department were on scene at 4:48 p.m., closing all but one lane of traffic. They put out the fire and left the scene at 5:44 p.m., reopening all lanes.

ISP said the fire department worked quickly.

“The biggest goal is getting the fire department on scene because prior to that you kind of have chaos with people wanting to help and running out in the (road),” said trooper Paul Gilbert. “Once the fire department was on scene the fire was extinguished very quickly.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
