Shoot marshmallows for a good cause

A local producer of marshmallow guns is teaming up with the U.S. Marine Corps to host a marshmallow shootout championship.

Sugar Shooters has unveiled its new battle arena. It is 100 feet long by 50 feet wide with 25-foot ceilings. The battles will have referees, and offer different games to be featured in tournaments across the country.

This championship event will take place at the Carmus Jamboree later this summer.

All proceeds will go to the Military Affairs Committee.

“We’re all about assisting veterans and the military in this area,” said Beverly McLendon, Military Affairs Committee volunteer. “So whatever money comes in, 100 percent of it goes out.”

The Carmus Jamboree is Aug. 14 and 15 at Sandy Downs in Bonneville County.
