Local dance team selected to perform in France

A local dance team will be representing the nation at an international festival in France.

“This year we are invited to one of the biggest and most important festivals in the world,” said Mindy Larsen, co-owner of Footworks Dance Studio.

At the end of the month, dancers from Footworks Dance Studio will leave to perform in Confolens, France.

“I think my first reaction was kind of like, Woah, France! I finally get to go you know,” said Maggie Larsen, a dancer.

The studio is passionate about bringing these opportunities to their dancers.

Gary Larsen learned this when he traveled overseas to dance.

“I started to realize who I was and how I related to the world and I want that for my children,” said Larsen.

A national organizing committee for the festival selected the group to go to the festival.

“They sent us an email one day, saying, would you like to come, and didn’t really believe it. I thought, what! This is amazing, it’s incredible,” said Mindy Larsen.

The group consists of nine boys and 13 girls aged 12 to 23. They’ll leave for the big event July 31.
