Investigation of Blackfoot police pursuit completed

The Southeast Idaho Critical Incident Team has concluded the death of Jesus G. Contreras was caused by a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Contreras was found dead after a police pursuit on October 31, 2015 on the Fort Hall reservation.

Blackfoot Police were involved in the pursuit, which began as a domestic violence investigation in Bannock County. Contreras was also a suspect in a hit and run case in Blackfoot.

The critical incident team was called into the case by the Blackfoot Police Department to insure a transparent investigation.
