Former coach sentenced to 15 years

Alisha Yeates was sentenced today to 1 year fixed and 14 years indeterminate jail time for 5 counts of lewd conduct with a minor.

Yeates must also register as a sex offender, pay a $1,000 fine, adhere to a no-contact order with the victim for 15 years and must be supervised when with children under the age of 18.

Yeates made a statement to the court today, saying that she stands by her guilty plea. Yeates said that she regrets everything that she did and that she is very sorry for what she did to the victim. Yeates also spoke about her treatment which she says is helping her change her life.

Yeates was a soccer coach at Blackfoot High School.

Yeates is also charged with two counts of Lewd Conduct with a child under 16 in Bannock County. She has a hearing scheduled for those charges Monday, Oct. 17.

The victim in her earlier testimony described her sexual relationship with Yeates, saying it went on from September 2011 to May 2013. She also said Yeates was her soccer coach for around four years, in city leagues and for one season in high school. She recounted two instances of having sexual relations with Yeates: once at her sister’s apartment in Chubbuck and another time at a hotel in Pocatello. When asked about specific dates for these instances, the victim couldn’t give exact dates.
