Shelley Main Street project to begin July 10

The Idaho Transportation Department is fast-tracking a project to repair Shelley’s Main Street, also known as U.S. 91. The $1.48 million project will begin July 10. It will include a mill and inlay, removing a few inches of the damaged roadway surface and replacing it with new asphalt. The project also includes replacing 23 sidewalk ramps to make them compliant with the Americans With Disabilities Act and the addition of a southbound and northbound left turn lane at Locust Street. The project was originally scheduled for construction in 2019, but the recent severe winter and its historic snowfall and moisture levels accelerated it forward. Contractor’s bids were opened June 6 and DePatco Inc. of St. Anthony was awarded the low-bid contract. Under terms of the contract, the project must be completed by August 18, ahead of the solar eclipse on August 21 and the Eastern Idaho State Fair beginning in the first week of September.
