Idaho Falls Rescue Mission celebrates new thrift store

The Idaho Falls Rescue Mission cut the ribbon for its new thrift store Friday.

Members of the Idaho Falls Rescue Mission and the Idaho Falls Chamber of Commerce celebrated 1st Street Thrift’s opening. It will help support the rescue mission in both its programs and its finances.

Leaders of the rescue mission hope that this new store is a way for more of the community to become involved in its services.

“We do a lot of good things, we do a lot of good programs out of the store, as well as hopefully making a little bit of money to support the rescue mission,” said Tyler Perkins, the executive director of the Idaho Falls Rescue Mission. “It’s one of the most exciting things we’ve done in the last couple of years.”

The store welcomes most donations.

1st Street Thrift is located at 200 First St. in Idaho Falls.

Saturday is the store’s opening day. It opens at 10 a.m.

1st Street Thrift’s regular business hours are Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.
