IFPD made multiple arrests over the weekend

Idaho Falls Police had a busy weekend. Officers served 20 warrants, responded to two bar fights (no arrests made) and assisted a family with a missing child who was located quickly by an IFPD Officer.

Thursday at approximately 8:40 p.m., Idaho Falls officers were dispatched to 1000 E. 17th Street for a report of a man who appeared to be sleeping in the driver’s seat of a vehicle that was running and parked in the middle of the parking lot.

Officers arrived and made contact with the driver who was identified as 33-year-old Kristopher Swaner of Idaho Falls. The vehicle was still running and in drive when officers arrived.

Police say Swaner was asked to put the vehicle in park and he complied.

Officers observed open containers of alcohol in the vehicle. Due to Swaner’s behavior, officers believed he may also be under the influence of a narcotic and a K-9 was called to the scene.

After the K-9 positively indicated on the vehicle, officers performed a search which yielded .5 grams of methamphetamine, .5 grams of heroin, drug paraphernalia and multiple open containers of alcohol.

Swaner was arrested for two counts felony possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of alcoholic beverage -open container by driver.

Swaner was transported to the Bonneville County Jail.

On Friday at approximately 4:00 p.m., officers responded to the 1500 block of S. Woodruff for reports of a suspicious vehicle.

Officers were able to make contact with the driver, later identified as 22-year-old Kristian J. Lopez of Ammon who appeared to be asleep in the driver’s seat of a parked vehicle.

After several attempts, officers were able to wake Lopez who refused to positively identify himself.

An officer on scene was able to recognize and positively identify Lopez from previous dealings.

Lopez was arrested for providing false information to a police officer as well as seven outstanding warrants (listed below) and was taken to the Bonneville County Jail.

Monday morning at approximately 1 a.m., officers responded to a report of a suspicious male who was attempting to make entry into a home in the 1000 block of Westcliff Drive.

Officers arrived and located the male who appeared to be extremely intoxicated.

The man was identified as 42-year-old Brody White of Idaho Falls. White reportedly mistakenly believed the home was his residence.

Officers performed a search of White’s vehicle which yielded multiple open or empty containers of alcohol.

White was arrested for felony driving under the influence and possession of alcoholic beverage -open container by driver. White was transported to the Bonneville County Jail.
