Woman arrested after shotgun threat

UPDATE 5:15 p.m. Police have identified the woman as 19-year-old Samantha King of Idaho Falls.

She was arrested for providing false information to a police officer, exhibition of a deadly weapon and two outstanding warrants (one IFPD and one Bonneville County).

She was taken to the Bonneville County Jail.

ORIGINAL:

Idaho Falls Police arrested a woman brandishing a shotgun at around 11:30 a.m. Monday near the intersection of Canal and G Street.

Police were called by a citizen who noticed the woman on the street. A Bonneville County deputy was first on the scene and spotted the woman. Police arrived seconds later and questioned the woman.

Traffic was blocked in the area for a short time while the situation was brought under control. Police said there was no threat to the public.

The woman, who has not yet been identified, was arrested on an outstanding warrant. She was also charged with providing false information to a police officer and for exhibition of a deadly weapon within city limits.

An investigation is continuing.
