Irving Middle School principal named

Irving Middle School Assistant Principal Amy Bowie is getting a promotion.

The Pocatello-Chubbuck School Board announced Wednesday that Bowie has been selected as the new Principal of the school. She replaces Tonya Wilkes who will take on the new role of Director of Student Support Services and Athletics at the district office. The changes take effect July 1.

Bowie has been assistant principal for the past four years. Prior to that, she taught English at Highland High School for 18 years, taking on additional duties as department chair, student leadership advisor, and basketball coach.

“One of Amy’s many strengths is her ability to communicate with people,” said Superintendent, Dr. Douglas Howell. “She listens intently before offering a thoughtful response. This attribute will serve her well as she interacts with the learners, staff and parents of Irving Middle School.”
