The Union Taproom hosts fundraiser for 5 Mile Inn employees

Chubbuck’s 5 Mile Inn, destroyed by a fire two weeks ago, is getting help from another bar in the community.

The Union Taproom in Old Town is hosting a fundraiser Saturday evening to aid the bar’s employees. The event features live entertainment, food, drinks and even a silent auction with over 25 items to bid on. All the funds raised will go towards the Inn’s employees.

Taproom owner Jennifer Erchul said she feels connected to the 5 Mile Inn. Having lived next door to the 5 Mile’s owner, Doug Hagen, and currently employing a former 5 Mile worker, she wanted to help.

“That group over there is very near and dear to all of us and when we heard about that devastation, we couldn’t imagine if something like that happened here, we would need a lot of help,” Erchul said. “So we just thought if there’s anything we can do, we’re gonna jump in and were going to help out.”

Entry tonight is $15 dollars online and $20 at the door. The silent auction runs until 9 p.m., but Erchul says the fundraiser will continue after that.

“So at least midnight. But if people are still here, we’ll stay open until 2 o’clock,” she said.

They hope to raise at least $5,000 Saturday.
