Gas leak closes roads

BONNEVILLE COUNTY, Idaho (KIFI/KIDK)- UPDATE: The Idaho Falls Fire Department reported the gas leak was isolated shortly after 3 p.m. Saturday.

There were some reports of gas odor on the scene and Hitt Road was blocked off while Intermountain Gas crews worked to repair the gas line.

The accident happened when a utility crew struck the gas line in the area of 14th North and 25th East.


ORIGINAL STORY:
The Bonneville County Sheriff's office is directing traffic away from a broken gas line. The area between 25th E. between E. Lincoln Rd. and 14th N. in both directions will be closed until the leak is contained. The gas line was broken during repair work this morning.

The Sheriff's office is asking people to avoid the area until further notice.
