Drowning victim recovered from Bear Lake
ST. CHARLES, Idaho (KIDK/KIFI) - UPDATE 5:15 p.m. Searchers recovered a drowning victim from Bear Lake Sunday afternoon.
The body of 27-year-old Martin T. Garcia, of Logan, Utah, was found submerged in six to eight feet of water according to a press release from Bear Lake County Sheriff Bart Heslington.
Several agencies responded and aided in the search and recovery efforts. During the search, divers, assisted by sonar from boats on the surface, were able to locate Garcia's body Sunday at about 1:05 p.m.
Original information received by dispatch Saturday at 7:35 p.m. stated that an adult male had fallen into the water from an inflatable tube. Several kayakers in the area saw the man fall into the water and noticed he was struggling. They immediately paddled toward the man to provide aid. Before the kayakers reached him, he went underwater and did not return to the surface.
A search began Saturday evening following the report. It was suspended due to darkness. The search resumed Sunday at 6:00 a.m.

ORIGINAL STORY: A search was launched Saturday evening for a possible drowning victim in Bear Lake.
Bear Lake County Sheriff Bart Heslington said at approximately 7:33 p.m., the Bear Lake County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the North Beach area of the lake for a report of an adult male who had fallen off an inner tube on the lake and could not be located.
Multiple agencies began in search efforts. The search was suspended due to darkness.
Searchers resumed Sunday at 6:00 a.m.
