Cooling trend and windy conditions over the weekend

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI)- Clearer skies tonight as temperatures drop to around 54 degrees, with winds gusting up to 21 mph.

Sunday will bring sunny skies and a high near 75 degrees, accompanied by gusty winds that could reach up to 30 mph in the morning.

A Red Flag Warning is active for the southern portion of the Sawtooth National Forest due to low humidity and gusty winds. Additionally, the National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory for Arco, Mud Lake and Dubois on Sunday, where wind gusts could exceed 45 mph across the region.

Brisk conditions will persist Sunday night as temperatures drop to a low around 43 degrees, with south-southwest winds gusting up to 33 mph.

Temperatures will cool down by 10 to 15 degrees on Monday following a cold front. Daytime highs are expected to reach the 60s across most of East Idaho, topping out near 66 degrees under sunny skies with gusts up to 31 mph.

A warming trend will follow through the middle of the week. Daytime highs are expected to reach near 75 degrees by Wednesday and near 76 degrees by Friday.

Uncertainty remains regarding conditions later in the week. A 20% chance of rain is forecast for Thursday, though the weather service noted that long-range forecast models show disagreement on the exact timing and location of potential precipitation.
