Man dies after being struck by freight train in Idaho
POCATELLO, Idaho (KIFI/KIDK) - The Power County Sheriff's Office reports a 41-year-old has died after being struck by a Union Pacific freight train Tuesday.
Union Pacific Railroad made an emergency call to the sheriff's office out in the area of Jet Stop.
Deputies report Ryan Thomas Smith had been struck by a train.
Smith’s next of kin have been notified.
Smith had been traveling around the area with his dog Mia but was from St Louis, Missouri.
The dog, a brown in color pit bull, is still missing.
If anyone see’s the dog in the area, please contact the Sheriff’s Office.
This matter is still under investigation.
ORIGINAL: A pedestrian has died after being struck by a Union Pacific freight train in Idaho.
The collision occurred Monday near Pocatello Regional Airport when an eastbound train struck a person on the tracks, the Power County Sheriff's Office said.
More information regarding the incident is expected to be released on Tuesday, police said.
