Idaho Democrats Discuss Jobs Package

It’s no secret the nation and the state of Idaho are struggling with employment.

Idaho Democrats have come up with what they say is a solution to the problem — iJobs 2.0, a package made up of six bills.

Two of the legislators backing the bills stopped by Local News 8 Friday to discuss their ideas.

Pocatello Rep. Roy Lacey said the bills will go before the House Tax and Revenue Committee before opening up to the entire House.

Lacey and House Minority Leader John Rusche want to put an option on the table for the state in tough economic times.

“I think we’ll be able to get a hearing and hold a discussion as to whether they (Republicans) agree these are valuable efforts to make,” said Rusche.

“It’s an opportunity for Idaho to come out of the recession. It’s built around what is here in Idaho that we can make better,” said Lacey.

Lacey and Rusche stopped in Idaho Falls on Friday at Papa Tom’s to meet with members of the community and get feedback on their jobs package, which includes a proposed tax credit and improvements to business infrastructure.
