Donating Made Easy

The state is making it a little easier to donate to your local food bank.

When you fill out your taxes this year, you can donate part of your refund to the Idaho Food Bank.

By checking line 39 on your 1040, you will find a place to designate a dollar amount for the Idaho Food Bank Fund.

The donated funds will go directly to fight hunger in communities across the state.

This is the third year for the program.

It has already raised $169,000, some of which went to support the local haven shelter, the North Bingham County Community Food Bank and the Salmon Assembly of God.

“It’s an easy way to to make a donation rather than writing out a check Dec. 31 to your favorite charity,? Eastern Idaho Community Action Partnership Director Russell Spain said. ?This way if benefits the entire state.”
