Redistricting Means Changes, Hassle For Bonneville Co.
The third and latest version of Idaho’s redistricting map splits far fewer counties than the first two maps, but it’s causing headaches at the Bonneville Elections Office.
There are now four legislative districts instead of three, and two less precincts.
Clerks are scrambling to notify the more than 18,000 people who will be impacted in upcoming elections, the first being just weeks away.
The mad dash is all thanks to a longer-than-expected re-districting process.
“Because we had waited for quite awhile on that, some of our precincts also were out of alignment with the population and everything, so we decided to go ahead and change everything that we could to align it up as much as we could,” said Bobbie Jockumsen, Bonneville County Elections supervisor.
Bonneville County residents should keep an eye out for a yellow postcard, that will tell them exactly where to vote, starting with school elections on March 13.
