ON Semiconductor Spends Millions In Upgrades

A major employer in Pocatello is planning millions of dollars in growth.

While the economy has brought tough times for many businesses, ON Semiconductor said it’s seen growth.

“With the economy there’s always challenges and bumps in the road. in 2010 and 2011 those were strong production years for us,? Site Manager John Spicer said.

A few strong years mean ON is looking to spending millions in upgrades and expansions at its Pocatello facility.

Six million dollars will help increase the manufacturing capabilities of the company’s clean room, where the most sensitive work is done on high-tech components.

“And this expansion puts us in a position to continue to grow and that helps us to be able to offer more capacity, so it’s pretty exciting for us,? Spicer said.

For years, ON Semiconductor has leased its Engineering Research Center, now ON has officially purchased the facility.

“It just shows more investment from ON Semiconductor into the local community and it provides a path for growth, even more so, for ON Semiconductor here,? Spicer said.

Over about the past year, ON has hired 100 new employees. Now more than 700 people work at the Pocatello facility. And ON said all of those employees are committed to helping the local community grow.

“We mostly all live in this community and so a symbiotic relationship is certainly important. The company is the people,? Spicer said.
