Soda Springs Man Dies During Snowmobile Trip

A Soda Springs man is dead after a snowmobile trip in Caribou County turned tragic on Saturday.

The Caribou County Sheriff’s Office is not releasing many details at this time, but said the snowmobile accident happened sometime Saturday afternoon, resulting in the man’s death.

Caribou County and Bear Lake Sheriff’s deputies and search and rescue crews left from the Trail Canyon warming hut near the Targhee National Forest and found the man in the Big Basin area, Caribou County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies were back out in the area on Sunday investigating. They still don’t know exactly what caused the man’s death, the sheriff’s office said.

Police aren’t releasing his name at this time, but an obituary in the Idaho State Journal lists 55-year-old Joe Lindsay of Soda Springs as the victim of a snowmobiling accident on Saturday.
