Former Micron CEO Honored At Memorial Service

Business and Idaho politicians are among the more than 3,000 people who honored the life and leadership of Steve Appleton, the former Micron Technologies Inc. killed in a plane crash earlier this month.

The public memorial was held Thursday at Taco Bell Arena on the Boise State University Campus, where Appleton earned his undergraduate degree.

Appleton was praised as an innovator, philanthropist and motivator. And current Micron CEO Mark Durcan hailed Appleton as an executive who was loyal to employees and focused on the success of the company.

Federal investigators are still trying to determine what went wrong when Appleton’s plane crashed moments after takeoff at the Boise Airport on Feb. 3.

Other speakers Thursday included Gov. C.L. “Butch” Otter and Boise State University President Bob Kustra.
