Local Knights Headed To Battle Of Nations

In Blackfoot on Saturday, some local knights in shining armor trained to go sword on sword in a battle of the nations.

Three men from southeast Idaho have been chosen to join Team USA in an international medieval combat tournament in Warsaw, Poland.

To raise money for the trip, the local Medieval Chivalry Reenactment Society put on a small tournament.

In heavy chainmail and homemade armor, combatants pounded away at each other with swords and axes.

At MCRS, Adam ?Teddy? Wells-Grube is known as Sir Wilhelm the Bear.

He said taking part in these events isn’t just about swinging a battleaxe but about reclaiming a lost code of honor.

“Don’t get me wrong, the swinging weapons at my friends heads is definitely fun. But it is definitely for the chivalry, the honor of it translating into actual life,? Wells-Grube said.
