Main Street Buzz: Bevanda

Time to check today’s Main Street Buzz, where we look in on newer businesses “making a go of it” in today’s economy. We found Bevanda in Shelley.

It’s a new little coffee shop with Wi-Fi, but they have a whole lot more besides your coffees and lattes. Hot chocolate, Italian sodas and smoothies are available. Plus, there is a new craze in other parts of the country and it’s beginning to catch on here: bubble tea and bubble slushes.

“In the tea, I put little tapioca balls and some flavored iced tea and it gives you a little chew when you suck it up threw the straw, and I do bursting bubbles inside the slushes, and those are just a little ball of fruit,? said owner Heather Bowcutt. ?You bite down on them, and they kind of have this little burst of flavor. So it’s kind of fun.?

Bowcutt and her husband remodeled the location and did all the work themselves. She said they did their research and she thinks they’re going to make it work. They have been open for five weeks.

By the way, Bevanda means ?beverage? or ?drink? in Italian.

You can find it in Shelley at the corner of Highway 91 and West Pine Street.
