Jackson To Buy Bridger-Teton Land
The town of Jackson has struck a deal with the Bridger-Teton National Forest.
The town is going to buy 10 acres of land owned by the forest, which are located in downtown Jackson.
That land is used for all of the forest?s administrative buildings.
A representative for Bridger-Teton says the money will go toward housing for employees and new offices, as the existing offices are no longer fit to work in.
?The building that the supervisor’s office is currently in is from about the 1960s era,? explained Mary Cernicek. ?It’s not adequate for today’s needs. It doesn’t meet a lot of the disability codes act and that sort of thing.”
The Forest Service still does not know if it will relocate the main office.
No word on how much Jackson will pay, but an appraisal is expected later this month.
