Jackson, Teton County, Wyo., Adopt Comp Plan Update
After years of discussion and public hearings, the Jackson Town Council and Teton County, Wyo., commissioners have unanimously adopted a 2012 Comprehensive Plan update. Members of both panels expressed appreciation to their respective planning commissions, staff and the public for their parts in the process.
The key guiding posts in the planning process included protection of the environment and wildlife habitat. It will also focus future commercial and residential growth on specifically identified communities within Jackson Hole.
County Commission Chairman Ben Ellis said the county was pleased with the plan. “(While) we realize that no one individual or group got everything they wanted, this plan is representative of the democratic process and we are proud of the document.”
Jackson Mayor Mark Barron said he thinks the plan represents the vision of the community at large.
A plan to implement the new comprehensive plan will go to the Joint Planning Commissions May 16 at 7 p.m. in the Jackson Town Council Chambers. It will then go to the joint elected boards June 4.
