Fire Near South Jordan Golf Course Forces Evacuations
Firefighters are investigating what caused a fast-moving brush fire that forced evacuations of about 20 homes in South Jordan.
Officials say the fire started near the Glenmoor Golf Course after 4 p.m. Tuesday and spread to nearby fences and sheds.
Some residents used garden hoses to fight the flames, and four people were treated for minor burns.
The dozens of firefighters who responded had the blaze contained in about an hour.
Some grass on the golf course was scorched, and The Salt Lake Tribune reports six homes were damaged.
South Jordan Fire Department Battalion Chief Reed Thompson says cotton-like seeds from cottonwood trees helped fuel the fire.
