Liz Cosgrove
Liz joined Local News 8 and KIDK Eyewitness News in May 2012 from State College, Penn. She is the weekend meteorologist and a weekday reporter.
She recently graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in meteorology and a minor in information, sciences and technology. During her time at Penn State, Liz was actively involved in the Campus Weather Service, a student-run organization at Penn State that produces written and video forecasts for the entire commonwealth of Pennsylvania. She was the communication manager for two years, training underclassmen in front of the chroma key. During her summer going into sophomore year, Liz interned at WNYT-News Channel 13 in Albany, N.Y., where she learned the ropes of a real newscast.
In addition, Liz was the on-air meteorologist for three shows while attending Penn State. Liz was the on-air meteorologist for the College of Communication’s show “The Centre County Report,” a news show that focused on Centre County in Pennsylvania, where Penn State is located. Liz was one of the four chosen seniors to star in the Department of Meteorology’s student run show “Weather Or Not,” a 15-minute segment on the weather that also featured science news stories. Her third show, “Weather World,” was another 15-minute show in which Liz forecast for all of Pennsylvania. Liz also was the treasurer of her dorm and was the vice president of her residence area while attending Penn State.
Throughout all her extracurricular activities, Liz has enjoyed forecasting all types of weather and is glad to cover eastern Idaho and western Wyoming!
When she isn’t working, Liz likes to run, hike, kayak, dance, ski, and hang out with friends. Liz, of course, is a huge Nittany Lions fan and also loves to cheer on her favorite NFL team, the New York Giants.
