Man Already Accused Of Exposure Faces Sexual Abuse Of Child Charge
A man accused of indecently exposing himself in April is now accused of sexual abuse of a child under 16, a felony.
George Robert Jones, 57, of Idaho Falls was already in the Bonneville County Jail after an April 21 incident in which police said he exposed himself in the Idaho Falls High School restrooms near the Civic Auditorium. Police also said he was peering into restroom stalls. When officers arrived on scene, they found Jones being detained by two other men who had stopped Jones when he tried to flee.
The warrant for the sexual abuse charge was served at the jail Wednesday.
On April 28, the Idaho Falls Police Department received a call from a woman who said her 9-year-old daughter was at the Civic Auditorium on April 21. While at the Civic Auditorium, a man, whom police identified as Jones, exposed himself to her. According to an investigation, Jones exposed himself to a woman and the girl at about the same time and in the same area at Idaho Falls High School restrooms.
Jones had a previous conviction of indecent exposure in 2002. The Idaho Sex Offender Registry classifies Jones as a violent sexual predator.
The penalty for sexual abuse of a child under 16 is imprisonment up to 25 years.
