Man Pleads Guilty To Not Registering As Sex Offender
A man formerly of Pocatello faces up 10 years in prison, a quarter million dollar fine, and anywhere from five years to life of supervised release for failing to register as a sex offender in Kentucky.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Idaho said 55-year-old David Leon Munday pleaded guilty to the charge in U.S. District Court in Pocatello on Thursday.
After a 1988 conviction for rape, Munday was required to register as a sex offender, but had not done so since July 2011. Last September, Pocatello police questioned him about the alleged sexual assault of two minors. According to a plea agreement, Munday failed to appear for a follow-up interview and did not report to work.
In January, marshals learned Munday was in Kentucky, but had not registered as a sex offender there.
Sentencing is set for Aug. 6 before Chief U.S. District Judge B. Lynn Winmill in Pocatello.
