Mountain River Ranch Celebrates Memorial Day
A rainy Memorial Day weekend didn’t stop people in eastern Idaho from honoring our men and women in uniform.
?I wanted to do something for the veterans and people in the military, because, you know they’re having it tough,” said Mountain River Ranch owner Tran King.
So, he fired up the grills and cued a band for his second annual American Hero Celebration.
“Everybody we talked to said it’s great, and we feel good about it, and I guess it’s a feel good for me,” King said.
It definitely felt good for a couple of local heroes, like Sgt. First Class Sheri Wills along with her friend and fellow mom, PFC Hilda Salgado.
“It really means a lot to us,? Wills said. ?Especially when people put on stuff like this.”
Wills, Salgado and their children came to Mountain River to enjoy the free food and fun, but of course, there’s more to Memorial Day than just hot dogs and hot rods.
“It gives me a chance to spend time with my kids and let them know what Memorial Day is really about,? Salgado said. ?It’s not just about barbecuing. It’s about remembering those who have given their lives for our country.”
Plenty of donations were collected to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project.
