Car catches fire after Swan Valley accident
A car caught fire after a crash on State Highway 31 on Saturday.
At about 5:10 p.m., Edwin Soto, 34, of Shelley was northbound on the highway in a 1992 Saturn SL when he failed to negotiate a curve at Milepost 6 near Swan Valley, Idaho State Police said.
The car went off the right side of the roadway and struck the guardrail, which pushed into the passenger side, hurting Soto’s 6-year-old son. After Soto and his son left the vehicle, it caught fire for unknown reasons.
It is unknown whether Soto was wearing a seat belt. His son was secured in the child safety seat.
