Community Salutes Local Vietnam Veterans

There was a solemn salute at the Vietnam War Memorial in Idaho Falls.

People said prayers and read the names of all 251 Idahoans on the memorial who died in the Vietnam War.

“For me personally, I know how close my name came (to being) on that wall, so it’s very meaningful,” said Keith Nielson, president of the local chapter of the Vietnam Veterans of America.

There was also a 21-gun salute, during a rendition of taps.
