Families Enjoy First Unofficial Day Of Summer
Memorial Day marks the unofficial beginning of summer, and families wasted no time arriving at one of eastern Idaho’s most exciting destinations for family fun, to capture the first moments of summer.
?Today is our first day of our summer season,? said Riot Zone owner Keith Johnson, as he waited for crowds to come. ?We do have a lot of fun, fun activities planned for this summer.?
Johnson didn?t want to spoil the fun by telling us what those activities are. Meanwhile, families were starting to pour in.
The Turcotts were the first to arrive.
“We kind of have a tradition of every Memorial Day coming here,? said John Turcott, 14, as he waited with his two younger brothers in line for go-karts. ?We’ve been doing it for a few years.”
“I’m riding the gray cart!” shouted 3-year-old William Turcott as he ran off.
William?s spirit is exactly what Johnson hopes to see each year.
“The fun part here at the Riot Zone is that we get to see people have fun as a family,? Johnson said. ?When we see moms and dads dragging kids kicking and screaming out of the park — ‘No! I’m not ready to go yet! I’m not ready to leave!’ That, to me, is the epitome of summer. That’s what we’re all about.”
Johnson said that in the short time Riot Zone has been open this year, he has already seen an increase in business from last year. He said he believes it’s a sign of the improving economy.
