Idaho Charter School Issued Notice Of Defect
The state has issued a notice of defect to a public charter school in southwestern Idaho, citing its lack of accreditation and other concerns.
The notice sent Thursday is the first step in a lengthy process that could result in closure of the Heritage Community Charter School in Caldwell.
The school opened last fall with a focus on classical liberal arts education.
The Idaho Public Charter School Commission has since highlighted a list of concerns, including Heritage’s lack of accreditation for its high school. The charter’s failure to follow the accreditation process outlined by the state could prevent students from transferring their credits and negatively impact their ability to graduate.
KTVB-TV reports the charter’s accreditation status only affects its high school, which was introduced as a pilot program.
