Virtual Class Graduates Together
Senior years are wrapping up all over eastern Idaho and on Wednesday one graduating class celebrated in a special way — by coming together for the first time ever.
The Idaho Virtual Academy hosted its fourth annual graduation ceremony at Hillcrest High School in Ammon.
More than 20 students came together to honor their parents and meet each other after completing courses online from home.
Local development manager Heidi Higgins said it’s a great alternative for the non-typical student.
“There’s lots of reasons why a student would choose to do online school, like maybe they don’t fit in a traditional classroom, maybe they’re gifted and want to move a little more quickly or maybe they need a little bit more help. Those kinds of students come to us,” said Higgins.
With 154 graduates statewide, this year marks the largest graduating class IDVA has ever had.
