Megan Findley: Distinguished Student

It’s not easy for students to balance school work, sports, clubs, volunteer work and a part time job, but today’s United Dairymen of Idaho Distinguished Student Award winner has done just that.

Megan Findley is an certified expert on Microsoft Office programs, so for her senior project she developed her own tutorial.

“It’s about teaching a program that’s so common that people automatically assume people know how to use it,” Megan said.

Megan has a passion for technology she wants to pursue.

“I want to be a double major in computer science and computer information systems, and then I want to travel the world,” Megan said. “I want to work both nationally and internationally, helping people and doing what I love.”

Megan is known around Leadore for her volunteer work. She’s always helping people with computer questions, she takes part in community service projects, and she and her sister even painted the post office to improve the community image for people passing through Leadore.
She does all this while participating in drama , BPA, robotics, sports and work.

Megan says there are rewards and benefits from going to a small school like Leadore with 72 students and a senior class of 10 students.

“Being in a bigger school I wouldn’t have had the education I have now,” Megan said. “I would have struggled a lot, but my teachers have been able to sit down and help me pretty much with everything I’ve ever needed help with. My biggest class has ten people in it. I have one class where I’m the only person in it.”

Meagan strives to do well in school because she wants a bright future.

“If you want to have a great life and if you want to be the best that you can be, do your best in high school, do the best in everything you do, and get involved in extracurricular activities, every chance you get try something new,” Megan said.

With all her other accomplishments Megan is the district champion in the shotput event.
