Man sought in failed holdup of taxi driver

Idaho Falls police are looking for a man in his late teens to early 20s who tried to hold up a cab driver early Friday.

Lt. Bill Squires said the man tried to get a ride from a Safe Ride Taxi around 1:40 a.m. Friday at the intersection of J Street and Idaho Avenue. He said the man punched the driver.

The driver separated himself from the man, who ran away without any money. The cab driver suffered superficial injuries and called police.

Police are still looking for the suspect. He is described as a white male with dark hair and somewhere between 5’10” and 6′ tall.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Idaho Falls Police Department at (208) 529-1200.
