Snow Plane Run draws large crowd in Tetonia

While most use snow planes for ice fishing, Saturday dozens of people gathered in Ruby Carson Park in Tetonia to showcase them as part of the annual Snow Plane Run.

Brent Robson started the tradition about two years ago in memory of his father, who he said introduced him to snow planes.

“We go out and enjoy the scenery. Give spectators a ride if they’re interested,” said Robson.

Both young and old came from far and wide to get a glimpse of these machines.

“We got people here from Texas and Colorado,” said Robson.

A big attraction was a red, open-top snow plane the owner said was built in 1947.

At one point snow planers crossed ID 33, attracting the attention of passing cars, which slowed down to look.

Organizers say there were about 15 planes at the event.
