Woman gets at least 15 years in prison for stabbing
A Blackfoot woman was sentenced in connection with a Nov. 20 stabbing death.
In 7th District Court in Blackfoot on Tuesday Sheree Moreno, 23, got 15 years in prison, with another 15 years of indeterminate time.
In January, Moreno pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and use of a deadly weapon.
“What that means is Ms. Moreno will be serving 15 years of a prison sentence and will be elligible for parole after 15 years, wherein the parole board will decide whether she’s appropriate to enter the community or not,” said Bingham County Prosecuting Attorney Cleve Colson.
The wife of victim Salvador Valerio made an emotional statement to the court, describing the toll the death has caused not only her, but Valerio’s mother, who has cancer.
Valerio was found dead outside a mobile home in Blackfoot. An investigation and autopsy revealed the 21-year-old was stabbed seven times inside the trailer.
