Girls organize prom for special needs students

Four high school senior girls threw a prom for special needs students Saturday night at Bonneville High School.

Jennika Welch, Ellen Hunsaker, Kaia Jarnagin and Brooklyn Sorenson decided to organize the event for a senior project.

The prom was open to special needs students throughout the area.

Attendees were treated to prom pictures, dinner and dancing. Thanks to several sponsors the prom was free for all who attended.

The girls said the event was much more than a senior project.

“We just wanted them to have a fun night where it was just all about them,” said Jarnagin. “A lot of these kids didn’t have a prom or didn’t get the chance to go, and that’s why we were doing this project.”

About 80 couples attended Saturday’s prom.
