Teton County, Idaho, moves into new Justice Center

Many of Teton County’s services are settling into a new building this week in Driggs.

The old Teton County Courthouse, built in 1924, needed to be vacated by the end of the month for its new owners, so this past week employees and their things made the trip down the street to a new home.

Teton County Sheriff Tony Liford said the transition was tricky for dispatch, but things went smoothly. He said everyone is feeling at home in the new building.

“This was designed with the sheriff, probation, the prosecutor and the emergency manager in mind, so the space makes sense and it’s all usable,” said Liford.

Liford said the little things, like heating, ventilation and air conditioning, make for a better work environment.

While some equipment made the move with employees, many did not. Kelly Park, the chair of the Teton County Commissioners, said chairs, desks, portable heaters, air conditioners and more will all be up for grabs.

“Saturday we’re going to have what’s called a county yard sale,” said Park.

The old courthouse moving sale starts Saturday at 9 a.m. and ends at noon.
