Idaho Falls celebrates Earth and trees
Friday was Arbor Day, a day set aside to think about trees and all they do for us. As part of the celebration, the BLM was handing out 1-year-old blue spruce trees at the Eastern Idaho Visitor and Information Center in Idaho Falls.
“It’s really great,” said Christopher Deets, visitor information assistant. “I think we can all agree that everyone loves trees. They provide clean water, clean air, shade, and they are beautiful to look at, so it’s really nice to be able to give these away for people to plant in their yard, and maybe their kids and their grandkids can see the same tree they are planting today.”
And speaking of trees and the environment, Saturday is Earth Day. At Tautphaus Park, there will be all sorts of activities going on from 10 to 3, including live music, games, crafts and displays. Kids 12 and under will also be able to get into the zoo for free with a paying adult and a can of food for the food bank or one of the recycle items listed on the Idaho Falls Earth Day website.
