Judge reflects on career

Early voting for the primary elections are still under way. As many attorneys and incumbents race for the judicial bench, 7th Judicial District Judge Jon J. Shindurling said he’s planning his future after retirement.

Shindurling has been a part of the Bonneville County Judicial system since 1994. He said in all that time he learned how to stay a fair and successful judge.

“I had a lot of people come back to me, either who I prosecuted or who I judged. Some who I sent to prison, who said, ‘Thank you for being interested in me as a person.’ And I think that’s what it’s all about,” he said.

Shindurling plans to continue helping state initiatives after his term ends at the end of the year. He said although he wouldn’t rather be anywhere else than the courtroom, he plans to take his career to the next level as a senior judge.

He is encouraging everyone in the community to go out and vote in the primaries and get to know all the candidates in this years election.
