3-year-old hurt in Rexburg crash

A 3-year-old girl was badly hurt in a crash in Rexburg on Monday night.

Police said the girl was a passenger in a Nissan passenger car driven by her mother.They said the woman tried to turn into the Wal-Mart parking lot off Mountain River Road at North Second East when her car was struck by a southbound pickup around 9:45 p.m.Police said the pickup ran over the top of the car.

The 3-year-old was flown to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls with head injuries. As of Tuesday morning, she was in serious condition.

The mother and two other children were taken to Madison Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The pickup driver, a 20-year-old man, and his three passengers were not hurt.

No citations have been issued, and investigation is continuing.
