Detectives suspect foul play in man’s death

Authorities are suspecting foul play in a fire that led to the death of a man.

Martin D. Anderton, 47, died May 7 in connection to a fire at 12474 Cherry Lane in Bannock County near Fort Hall Indian Reservation. Detectives said they believe the house fire was not accidental.

The landlord said Anderton did not live at the house.

In a news conference Wednesday, officials from the Bannock County sheriff’s and prosecutor’s offices said they do have suspects, but they do not pose a risk to the community.

Law enforcement from Fort Hall are also helping investigate.

Officials are not yet releasing further details. including the names of the suspects or their motive, as the case is under investigation.
