Walk with a Doc program kicks off

Tuesday evening was the start of a new program called “Walk with a Doc.

Each Tuesday, a different doctor in Pocatello will walk along a Portneuf Greenway trail and answer questions for anyone who joins them. The walk is free and you can bring pets and children.

Thursday is also a community walk, but without a doctor. The Portneuf Greenway Foundation is sponsoring the event with the Portneuf Healthcare Foundation. Tamara Code, executive director of the Greenway, said this is one way to get to know your doctor outside an office setting.

“They love meeting people. It’s fun and they’re funny,” Code said. “And when you get to know them wearing their shorts and tennis shoes it’s much different than the office setting. So it’s really nice to get to know them as people because they really are people.”

The doctor walks begin at 7 p.m. every Tuesday through August, and start at theAbraszewski Trail just off Kraft Road beginning. Thursday’s walks will be at 7 p.m., and they will meet at The AMI trailhead off the Avenue of the Chiefs. For any questions, you can call the Portneuf Greenway Foundation at 208-234-4929.
