Crash sends two to the hospital

Idaho State Police are investigating a one-vehicle injury crash that sent two people to the hospital Saturday afternoon. The crash happened on southbound Interstate 15 at mile marker 67.

Clair E. Averill, of Idaho Falls, was driving southbound in a 2003 Mercury Mountaineer. ISP said Averill drifted off the left shoulder of the road and over corrected his vehicle. The vehicle rolled multiple times and came to a rest in the median.

Clair Averill and his passenger, Gayle L. Averill, of Idaho Falls, were transported by ground ambulance to Portneuf Medical Center. They were both wearing their seat belts. Traffic was reduced to one lane for about an hour, while crews worked to remove the wreckage.
