War Bonnet Rodeo begins this week

The War Bonnet Rodeo is the oldest rodeo in Idaho. It has been a tradition since 1911.

More than 300 cowboys and cowgirls participate in this event along with 12,000 spectators.

“Come Thursday night, there will be ground pounding thunder,” says Robert Skinner, chairman of War Bonnet Rodeo. “It is going to be exciting, these cowboys are going to get on these animals and the animals are going to jump up and down and try and stay on. Good luck to them.”

This year’s rodeo starts Thursday and goes until Sunday with the War Bonnet PBR competition. Gates will open at 5:30 each night, except for Sunday when the gates will open at 1p.m.

The War Bonnet Rodeo is a nonprofit organization. Money raised will go to support local veterans through the American Legion.
