Idaho Falls council member passes away
After a surprise heart attack last week, Idaho Falls Council Member Dee Whittier officially passed away on March 1, 2015 due to complications associated with his heart failure.
In a statement the family said, “Dee, or “Dad” to us, was the center of our family life. IN raising his 7 kids, he always took time to bewith each child and support us in every activity. He was a wonderful example of what a great husband is, and always treated our mother with the utmost respect and love. In recent years we saw him find great joy in serving the public through the City Council, which had been his goal for many years. Although we ache for more time with him, he left us much to celebrate and his legacy will be felt by many throughout the community.”
Friends and co-workers at city hall couldn’t agree more. Idaho Falls Mayor Rebecca Casper described Whittier as a peacemaker, and someone who could get things done.
“He will be hard to replace,” said Casper. “That kind of character is rare. It’s what we want all in all our elected officials.”
Whittier’s funeral will be held on Friday, March 6, 11 AM, at the LDS South Stake Center on Emerson Drive.
