City: Property owner working to get asbestos cleaned up
The City of Idaho Falls said it is working with a homeowner to get a demolished house containing asbestos cleaned up.
Gary Trent Donaldson, the owner of the Whittier Street property, met with city code enforcement authorities this week, said spokesperson Kerry McCullough on Wednesday.
City officials described it as a cordial meeting, and Donaldson said he would work with the city to get the property properly cleaned up.
A contractor has told the city the asbestos in the vinyl flooring and sheet rock does not pose a health threat to the public unless it is disturbed.
